But who'll direct it, then ?
Michael Mann... would do a good job... but that is just a thought in the wind...

I don't know :\ Depends a lot on where they want to go with the story. ( and no script leaked on the net yet ) Refn would -probably- have kept the horror feeling to the story. Tony Scott is more detective thriller story oriented, imo. Mann, on the other hand, could go in depth with the psychology of the characters... The subject is delicate, due to the many adaptations already made. So the approach is everything.

Agreed Luca. My take on it is that I would like to see it as a bit more twisted - yes psychological but thriller/gothic/dark. Anyone catch the BBC series of Jekyll? Very interesting take on an old tale. This one really goes into the psychological.
And oh yes Luca - forgot to post - Yes I do love Terry Gilliam.

Personally for me anyone who hires a curtain director is kinda cool in my books. (the hunger) But really Tony Scott I think could bring a visually compelling film as well as a complexity of the "dual war within" kinda scenario (ie man on fire). Mann is a little bit more reality based. He tends to film direct reality confrontations (though done well - think collateral).
Whose to say ? As you say depends on the script. As well, now that Sam Rami is free..........

Did you just type Sam Reimi ? now that's an idea... And speaking of Collateral , must confess I like it better than Heat . Blasphemy, I know but it just appeals to me more.

Yup. Sam Rami walked from Spiderman. Can't say I blame him either. I still say that Keanu's best work was in the gift - Keanu has great respect for Mr Rami - sooooo How bout Sam Rami for Jekyll ? Love to see those two work together again.

Guillermo del Toro .... is who i was going to say... then I checked imdb... (Not accurate I know).... But he was penciled in for this..
Then what about ....Joe Johnston... I saw 'The Wolfman' on the weekend... nicely done ... but a little lacking in the story.... but that is a dark and Gothic tale.... Benicio del Toro... did it well..

Joe, Guillermo is attached to a different movie, although with the same subject. And different studio, if I remember well ( don't have access to IMDb Pro). And frankly... I'd prefer a psychological thriller approach, not a CGI fest Guess we just have to wait and see

Cool - going to see Wolfman hopefully on Thursday. I do like Gullimero 's work, but I don't want to see it go into too romantic period horror.

Saw the original Wolfman with Lou Cheney Jr. years ago on TV...I miss the old timers, Cheney, Lugosi, Karloff...now THEY were the kings of the macabre...
